Beautiful: The Carole King Musical to tour Australia in 2018

Beautiful - The Carole King Musical Esther Hannaford as Carole King - photo Joan MarcusFollowing its joyous Australian premiere in Sydney last month, the producers of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical have confirmed the musical will travel to Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide in 2018.

“We’re thrilled Australian audiences have embraced this show so warmly, and can’t wait to share the inspirational production – and our incredible all-Australian cast – with even more theatregoers across the country,” said Producers Michael Cassel, Paul Blake and Mike Bosner.

Esther Hannaford leads a talented cast of 24 performers as Carole King. Joining the company in Melbourne, fresh from playing Miss Honey on the Australian and New Zealand tour of Matilda, is acclaimed actress Lucy Maunder as Cynthia Weil. The cast also includes Josh Piterman as Gerry Goffin, Mat Verevis as Barry Mann, stage veterans Mike McLeish as Don Kirshner and Anne Wood as King’s mother Genie Klein.

The heart-warming production has received a cavalcade of glowing reviews since the official Australian premiere on 23 September. Audiences have fallen in love with the inspirational true story of the most successful female songwriter of the 20th century.

The song list of its include Will You Love Me Tomorrow, It’s Too Late, Take Good Care of My Baby, Locomotion, You’ve Got a Friend, (You Make Me Feel Like a) Natural Woman, So Far Away, One Fine Day, Tapestry and I Feel the Earth Move along with chartbusting Mann/Weil tunes such as You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling, On Broadway and Uptown.

Beautiful: The Carole King Musical is currently playing at Sydney Lyric Theatre until Sunday 28 January 2018, will begin performances at Melbourne’s Her Majesty’s Theatre on 16 February, and then play Brisbane’s Lyric Theatre, QPAC from July 2018 and Adelaide’s Festival Theatre from December 2018.
