Beginning as a cabaret podcast hosted by singer-songwriter Geraldine Quinn in 2015, Bang On The Strillers features anyone on the fringe who is sparkling with charm and glittery wit.
Quinn (Golden Gibbo Award winner 2011, Green Room Award Best Cabaret Artiste 2014, Best Cabaret New Zealand Fringe 2015) chats to the folk who don’t usually get a lot of love from the podcast world – cabaret artists, musical comedians, burlesque performers, drag artists, and songwriters.
So if you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to have a cup of tea with some of the most formidable sparkle warriors in the business, the bi-monthly podcast offers a taste. There may still be dick jokes, but they’ll probably rhyme. Anything and everything is discussed – just with more sequins. Many, many, many more sequins!
With more than a dozen episodes in, and along with Scott Brennan (Spontaneous Broadway) and reclusive pan-European performance artists aRTIFIST, Quinn is corralling members of the sparkling Strillers alumni (straddling the intertwined cabaret, burlesque and drag scenes) to perform in an extreme-variety extravaganza at The Butterfly Club for the last four Sundays in January 2016.
The live Strillers season features some of the brightest and most audacious newcomers alongside some of our best loved and most brilliant headliners. Each show is unique with new guests every week including Clara Cupcakes, Gillian Cosgriff, Dolly Diamond, Hairy Soul Man, Becky Lou, Tina Del Twiste, Karen from Finance, Oliver Clark, Jude Perl, Christina Andrews and more…
