Producers Michael Cassel Group and Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures have announced the international smash-hit Beetlejuice The Musical will be heading to the Esplanade Theatre in Singapore for an exclusive season in early 2026. Singapore will be the second stop on the international tour of the production – with performances from 15 January.
Three-time Tony Award nominee Andy Karl (Groundhog Day, Moulin Rouge!, Wicked) will be stepping into the title role of Beetlejuice for the Singapore season.
“We’ve had the privilege of producing some of the biggest titles in musical theatre, and Beetlejuice The Musical is undoubtedly one of the most original, exhilarating productions of the last decade. It’s wickedly funny, visually spectacular, and with Andy Karl donning the iconic suit, it’s going to be an unmissable performance for Singapore audiences,” said Producer Michael Cassel.
“Beetlejuice is not your typical leading man – unless your typical leading man is a hilarious fast-talking demon with an attitude and the worst fashion sense,” said Andy Karl. “That’s exactly why I couldn’t say no! He’s wildly inappropriate, totally unhinged, and yet somehow… weirdly lovable?”
“I’m thrilled to bring this gloriously deranged show – and my questionably-clean striped suit – to Singapore for the first time. Hang on to your sandworms, because… it’s showtime!” added Mr Karl.
“At Esplanade, we take pride in curating a diverse mix of arts and entertainment, both through our own programmes as well as productions by our valued hirers,” said Alice Neo, Assistant Head, Venues, The Esplanade Co Ltd.
“We’re thrilled to welcome the Singapore debut of the delightfully offbeat Beetlejuice The Musical and to have Michael Cassel Group and their world-class presentations back at the Esplanade Theatre. It will add a bold, irreverent splash to our 2026 calendar.”
It’s showtime, folks! Beetlejuice The Musical, Broadway’s musical comedy that is filled with “infectious mayhem” (The Age), is more reckless, more irreverent and, frankly, more repellent than ever! Based on Tim Burton’s wonderfully demented film, it tells the story of Lydia Deetz, a strange and unusual teenager obsessed with the whole “being dead thing.”
Beetlejuice The Musical is directed by two-time Tony Award-winner Alex Timbers (Moulin Rouge!, Peter and the Starcatcher), with an original score by Tony Award-nominee Eddie Perfect (King Kong), a book by Scott Brown & Emmy Award nominee Anthony King (Broad City), choreography by Connor Gallagher (The Robber Bridegroom), and music supervision, orchestrations and incidental music by Kris Kukul (Joan of Arc: Into the Fire).
Beetlejuice The Musical features scenic design by two-time Tony Award nominee David Korins (Hamilton), costume design by six-time Tony Award winner William Ivey Long (The Producers), lighting design by Tony Award winner Kenneth Posner (Kinky Boots), sound design by four-time Tony Award nominee Peter Hylenski (Frozen) and projection design by Drama Desk Award winner Peter Nigrini (Dear Evan Hansen).
Puppet design by Drama Desk Award winner Michael Curry (The Lion King), special effects design by Jeremy Chernick (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), illusions by Michael Weber (Forrest Gump), hair and wig design by Charles G. LaPointe (Hamilton), make-up design by Joe Dulude II (Wicked), dance arrangements by David Dabbon and music producing by Matt Stine.
