Producers John Frost and Phil Bathols today announced that Broadway legend Mandy Patinkin and Opera superstar Nathan Gunn will perform together in Australia in November, combining their musical talents to create a unique and powerful evening of entertainment.
An Evening with Mandy Patinkin & Nathan Gunn will play one night only in Melbourne (21 November), Sydney (26 November) and Brisbane (28 November). Tickets go on sale on Monday 16 September.
Mandy Patinkin, star of Channel 10’s hit series Homeland and one of the most versatile and compelling actors, singers and storytellers of our time, joins forces with one of the world’s most in-demand and leading opera baritones, Nathan Gunn for an evening of show tunes, pop music, opera, and Americana song.
The Chicago Review-Examiner described the show as “nothing short of genius, giving [concert] goers a night of musical excellence they will long remember.”
The duo performs roughly two-dozen songs including solos and duets, some from Mandy’s world of Broadway and some showcasing Nathan’s operatic brilliance, including Lily’s Eyes, Maria, If I Loved You and Rossini’s Barber of Seville.
Mandy Patinkin is considered one of the most versatile and compelling actors, singers, and storytellers of our time, originated Broadway roles in Evita and Sunday in the Park With George, and stars in the critically acclaimed Showtime series Homeland and past CBS series Chicago Hope and Criminal Minds. His many movie performances include roles in Yentl, Dick Tracy, and The Princess Bride.
Nathan Gunn has made a reputation as one of the most exciting and in-demand baritones of the day. He has appeared in internationally renowned opera houses such as the Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House, and Paris Opera and as a concert artist with symphony orchestras around the globe. His solo recordings include Just Before Sunrise and American Anthem.
They are accompanied on stage by Nathan’s wife and music director Julie Jordan Gunn and by Mandy’s long time accompanist Paul Ford.
