Affordable Art Fair heads to Melbourne this September

AAR Affordable Art Fair MelbourneThe new Affordable Art Fair will take place in Melbourne at the historic Royal Exhibition Building this September.

The world’s biggest art fair organiser, Affordable Art Fair has a dedicated drive to democratise and demystify the world of art and Melbourne is the latest addition to a family of 13 fairs in 10 cities.

The Affordable Art Fair is about inspiring art lovers and collectors alike to discover and purchase works of art while allowing an emphasis on clear information and highly visible pricing so there are no surprises. An onsite complementary wrapping service means that artwork can be taken home to immediately hang on the wall.

The fair provides the opportunity to connect with over 50 gallery owners and discover their artists outside traditional spaces. With over 1,000 artworks on display, attendees are able to discover the joy of art and define their personal taste and let individuality reign. As society becomes increasingly time poor, the fair brings new audiences to the gallery who can then become loyal and long-term clients. Since 1999, over 2.5 million visitors have attended AAF global fairs.

While a number of respected galleries have already committed, the Affordable Art Fair will see in excess of 50 carefully curated galleries from Australia and abroad including United Kingdom, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Japan and Europe representing 1000’s of artworks from leading, emerging and mid-career artists. All art genres will be available – painting, sculpture, installation, photography and limited-edition prints with clearly visible prices commencing from as little as $100 and upwards to $12,000.

The Young Talent Victoria initiative will give unrepresented artists a platform to present their work to a new audience. Around the world the Affordable Art Fair platform has successfully launched many young careers with artists being picked up by galleries and museum shows alike. In addition, an under $1,000 feature will help first time buyers start their art collecting journey.

Alongside new and upcoming talent, visitors can participate in fun accessible educational programmes with interactive workshops and inspirational talks in a relaxed and non-intimidating atmosphere, all of which create an environment to discover the delight of collecting art.

The Affordable Art Fair aims to engage families and introduce younger audiences to the world of art. The welcoming and immersive Creative Hub brings art lovers of all ages together to experience creating art and express their emotions in fun, interactive and unexpected ways including mindful colouring and a shred it or save it art activity inspired by Banksy. Focusing on art and wellbeing #ArtHappyFriday will bring people together for an evening of art and performance.

“I’m so pleased to bring the Affordable Art Fair to Melbourne, it was a natural decision for us to launch the Affordable Art Fair in Melbourne as it is a city renowned for its art and culture,” said Affordable Art Fair Founder, Will Ramsay.

“My vision is to make art accessible to all and helping bring 1 million artworks into people’s homes around the world. We’re about halfway there and I’m really excited Melbourne will be part our Affordable Art Fair family.”
