Adrian Li Donni: Goodbye Broadway, Hello La Scala!

Adrian Li DonniSo long Broadway, Adrian Li Donni has a new dream… to sing on the same stages as the great tenors of our time!

It was backstage during a production of The King And I at the Sydney Opera house that this musical theatre kid felt the pull to make a bold step. Now, he has become one of the select few to study at the Wales International Academy of Voice in Cardiff, U.K.

“I have dreamed…” is a fundraising concert to help support Adrian as he embarks overseas to study a Master of Arts in Opera. The program, founded by renown tenor Dennis O’Neil and New Zealand’s Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, will introduce him to the European opera community and bring him closer to his dream.

A regular face on the music theatre stage, Adrian has played lead roles both home and abroad, including the role of Lun Tha for Opera Australia’s The King And I and Kayama in Stephen Sondheim’s Pacific Overtures – for which he won a Green Room Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical.

For the past 3 years, Adrian has been a member of recording/ tour group The Ten Tenors and appears on their chart topping album, Wish You Were Here. He was last seen in Muriel’s Wedding for the Sydney Theatre Company and Global Creatures.

Guest artists include: Shu-Cheen Yu (King And I, Opera Australia); Bianca Baykara (School of Rock – The Musical); Chloe Harris (Opera Scholars Australia, Richard Divall Emerging Artist) and Adam Jon (Acclaim Awards Italian Opera Fellowship winner 2018) with David McNicol on piano.

All monies raised directly supports Adrian’s study at the Wales International Academy of Voice, Cardiff, U.K.
