Adelaide Festival of Arts appoints new Chief Executive

Adelaide Festival Sandy VerschoorThe Adelaide Festival of Arts has announced the appointment of Sandy Verschoor as its new Chief Executive.

A highly respected administrator and member of the arts community, Sandy is currently General Manager and Producer for Windmill Theatre. She has previously held senior roles in a number of organisations including the Adelaide City Council, Adelaide Fringe and Arts Projects Australia. Sandy is also a current Adelaide City Councillor.

“I am thrilled to be returning to the Adelaide Festival as Chief Executive, taking the reins from Karen Bryant after an extremely successful 2016 event,” said Sandy. “The festival holds a very special place for me having worked on Barrie Kosky’s 1996 and Robyn Archer’s 1998 and 2000 events. I very much look forward to joining the team.”

Sandy joins the festival team replacing Karen Bryant who has resigned to move interstate for family reasons. A recruitment process to fill the ongoing position will be undertaken in the first half of 2017.

“I am delighted that Sandy has accepted this appointment. Her extensive experience and broad knowledge of the arts, corporate and government sectors as well as her leadership skills will be an invaluable asset to the organisation,” said Judy Potter, Chair of the Adelaide Festival Board.
