Ms Bianco can be described with just one word… Dynamite. Another packed show, congratulations Ali McGregor on this choice. Christina the self described “’short person’ conducts her performance at a frenetic pace and the author wonders how she kept it up non stop for nearly 80 minutes.
The show Me, Myself and Everyone Else was a treat for all the senses and captured a huge amount of the sound and mannerisms of so many celebrity Divas. Christina was able to deliver an impersonation for every letter of the alphabet.
At her best, she channelled Shirley Bassey, Judy Garland, Julie Andrews and one of her personal favourites – Barbra Streisand. A reading of Barbra’s design book in the many voices of Christina brought many laughs and constant applause from the audience.
Ms Bianco’s band comprised of mainly South Australian members including Drums – Chris Neale, Bass – Bonnie Aue, Guitar George Grifsas and her musical director on piano – Joe Louis Robinson.
I never thought I would hear Liza Minnelli doing Ricky Martin’s Livin La Vida Loca. There were so many highlights in this production including impressions of Adele, Celine Dion and Shirley Bassey. Christina did Kath in a faultless Aussie accent, and was even able to fit in the Men at Work hit, Down Under.
Christina Bianco’s talent, albeit in a 4’11” container, is bigger than the World Trade Centre. It is obvious that she is in demand all over the world. Her own voice is beautiful on the ears and Christina is gorgeous from her head down to her toes. The impressions are fantastic and it is not often that you get to see female vocal impersonations because they are so hard to do.
It seems that a lot of her time is spent in the United Kingdom and touring other parts of the world. We are so lucky to have had this ‘Tinkerbell’ drop in to our city. Do please come by again for a longer season. I could see Christina next time in the Festival Theatre with a big band production.
I am overwhelmed by the sheer talent displayed by Christina Bianco and I am not ashamed to say that she made the author and audience fall in love with her charm and amazing show. Christina Bianco is my number one best pick of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival 2018.
