Who is Vidya Makan?
Just a 22 year old Brissy girl trying to stay warm in Melbourne.
What would you do differently to what you do now?
If I knew, I’d probably be doing it differently!
Who inspires you and why?
My younger sister. She is infinitely cooler than me. I aspire to carry myself with the same prowess and self assurance that she does. She is also the strongest person I know.
What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Music and theatre has always had such a strong impact on my life. I suppose my goal is to one day get good enough at it to have the same or similar effect on someone that it had/has on me!
Favourite holiday destination and why?
NYC for theatre. Europe for travel (specific, I know). India for exploring. Noosa for relaxing.
When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I usually like to pack a deli platter and take them for a picnic in the Fitzroy or Botanical Gardens!
What are you currently reading?
The last thing I read was the play ‘Fool For Love’ by Sam Shepard.
What are you currently listening to?
Since doing this show, I can’t stop listening to The Beatles! Come Together has become my new favourite song.
Happiness is?
Performing!
What does the future hold for you?
Hopefully more work! I’m actually doing a production of Merrily We Roll Along at The Lawler Theatre in June/July with the lovely Ana Mitsikas, who is also in Let It Be! I am very excited to sink into my teeth into that when we have finished Let It Be.
Following its sold-out performance earlier this month, Vidya returns to perform in Let It Be: The Songs of Lennon & McCartney at Chapel Off Chapel for 2 performances on Saturday 29 April 2017. For more information, visit: www.chapeloffchapel.com.au for details.
