On the Couch with Caroline Lee

Caroline Lee Arts Review On the CouchWho is Caroline Lee?
I’m Caroline Lee, a sharp rude vegetarian, cat loving show loving cook.

What would you do differently to what you do now?
I’d have more space around the edges.

Who inspires you and why?
Meryl Streep and Cate Blanchett because they are both actresses who speak their minds and take a stand.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
I would ban plastic packages. I’m completely obsessed about plastic in the ocean – it completely horrifies me.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
It would have to be a camping trip in the Victorian High Plains. A particular favourite spot is the bee box camping ground – but I’m keeping its exact location a secret.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I would take them to LaMama theatre. In my opinion this little theatre is quintessentially Melbourne, it’s small, intimate friendly and it’s in Carlton – what’s not to love.  I could equally say the same thing about Red Stitch Theatre, except you’ll have to cross the river for that one.

What are you currently reading?
I’m currently reading Being a Beast by Charles Foster – it’s his latest book about living as a fox, a swift, a badger and a few other animals. It’s completely fascinating.  I’m also reading the script for Rules For Living at least four times a day.

What are you currently listening to?
I’m currently listening to Patti Smith and Courtney Barnett.

Happiness is?
Having a long dinner party with friends where everyone has brought food and wine to share.

What does the future hold for you?
I’m hoping it’s going to hold a little more of the same.

Caroline is currently performing in the Australian Premiere season of Sam Holcroft’s Rules for Living at the Red Stitch Theatre until 16 April 2017. For more information, visit: www.redstitch.net for details.
