Following their 2025 tour CHOOSE BOB – 40 Ridiculous Years, Bob Downe creator Mark Trevorrow reunites with Rupert Noffs and ARIA Award-winning Music Director Bev Kennedy for OLD FRIENDS!, a new cabaret at MEMO Music Hall.
While Trevorrow is best known for the character of Bob Downe, OLD FRIENDS! provides an opportunity to hear him in a different setting, alongside Noffs and Kennedy in an intimate cabaret performance.
The program draws on a broad range of musical styles, combining Broadway show tunes, pop classics and jazz standards with a selection of less expected material. Songs by Stephen Sondheim and Burt Bacharach sit alongside music from the Bee Gees and Bach, with humour woven throughout the evening.
The three performers have previously worked together on CHOOSE BOB – 40 Ridiculous Years, which toured nationally in 2025 following a Sydney residency. Their return to the stage together shifts the focus from the anniversary of Bob Downe to a more informal afternoon centred on music and the rapport between the performers.
With its mixture of familiar songs, jazz, musical theatre and comedy, OLD FRIENDS! is a relatively simple proposition: three performers, a piano, a collection of songs and an afternoon of music shared with an audience.
