On the Couch with Timmy Blankenship

I am an artist from Colorado USA. I made my way through Miami, Los Angeles, and now I have found myself in Sydney. A big fan of good people, good eats, good travels. Above all I am a lifelong student and still figuring things out, keen to absorb and whelm myself in hidden wonders and quiet magics of life.

What would you do differently from what you do now?
Spend less time overthinking things.

Who inspires you and why?
I felt character development after I watched Kill Bill.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
I think people put a lot of pressure on changing the world, but sometimes the most meaningful thing you can do is stay grounded and appreciate how small and finite life really is. I think remembering that helps you focus less on ego, control or to try & prove something.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Anywhere is good when the people you love are with you.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I’ll take my friends to see Cronulla. It is my favourite beach town in Sydney. I’ll also take you to get purple rice yogurt & more sweet treats.

What are you currently reading?
I am taking suggestions for my next read.

What are you currently listening to?
Don Toliver’s new album.

Happiness is?
A good night sleep cannot be underrated.

What does the future hold for you?
The future is an unknown and can be scary, I would never try and figure it out beforehand. It’s about letting it happen and rolling with the punches. But I know it holds prosperity.

Timmy can be seen in Sydney Dance Company’s season of Love Lock and Forever & Ever as part of Rising Festival at Arts Centre Melbourne from 3 – 6 June 2026; and Engine – which will be presented at the Sydney Opera House from 24 June – 12 July 2026.
