Currently touring Australia as the special guest on Ben Folds’ national tour, American performer Lindsey Kraft makes her Adelaide Fringe debut at Holden Street Theatres with Lindsey Kraft + A Piano Present: We’ve Been Here Before.
This new work is a piano-driven, funny and deeply personal show that marks a bold new chapter in Lindsey’s creative life. Lindsey Kraft + A Piano Present: We’ve Been Here Before performs for an exclusive Adelaide Fringe season from 7 March – 22 March 2026 at The Arch, Holden Street Theatres.
While Ben Folds serves as musical director and co-director sharing the stage with Lindsey as her ‘band’ – this is unmistakably Lindsey Kraft’s show. A storyteller in her own right, Kraft brings her distinctive voice, rapid-fire wit and emotional precision to the stage, drawing audiences into a world shaped by reinvention and lived experience.
For more than 20 years, Kraft has built a successful career as a television and film actor, including roles in Grace and Frankie and Netflix’s Obliterated and is celebrated for her incredible comedic timing and grounded performances. In her late 30s, she made a radical shift, teaching herself piano from scratch so she could finally tell her own stories through music.
Just four and a half years later, those stories have become the foundation of her first musical: a semi-autobiographical work that blends humour, vulnerability and insight. Onstage, Kraft moves effortlessly between laugh-out-loud moments and genuine intimacy, offering audiences a performance that feels both theatrical and disarmingly real.
“I came to Australia 25 years ago as a student, feeling lost but knowing I had something to say. I’m still that same scrappy kid, I just didn’t realise then that my voice would come through music. Returning now to debut at Adelaide Fringe feels like coming full circle. We’ve been here before.” says Kraft.
This semi-autobiographical piece is about breaking seemingly impossible personal cycles through creativity. Kraft explains, “I wasn’t listening to myself until I began writing songs – free therapy!”
