On the Couch with David Greco

David Greco AAR On the CouchWho is David Greco?
I’m a classical singer, a teacher, a pedagogue, an academic researcher and lover of felines.

What would you do differently from what you do now?
I’d have become an orchestral/opera conductor rather than a singer.

Who inspires you and why?
Maria Callas because of the commitment artistry, high standards with herself and others throughout her career, and her dedication to truthful music making.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
I think what I do, or more to a point what I aim to do – engaging in music with as much beauty and honest storytelling as possible – is my best attempt.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
London & Rome. I love London for the culture and history and friends I have there, and I love Rome because of the food and fabulousness of it all!

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to and why?
I take them on the Manly ferry. Hands down the best Sydney experience.

What are you currently reading?
Meditations by Marcus Aurelius.

What are you currently listening to?
Lots of things. Early Renaissance motets of composer Josquin de Prez and some classic Dusty Springfield are currently on my playlist

Happiness is?
Surrounded by friends, like-minded colleagues, good food and good wine.

What does the future hold for you?
Hopefully the above answer!
