Who is Andi Snelling?
I’m an award-winning theatre artist and creative coach into all things art and creativity. I’m also obsessed with chai, long baths and the beach. I love nothing more than getting to be alive. I really enjoy being me.
What would you do differently from what you do now?
Worry less about not having enough time to fit in everything I want to do in my life and just enjoy being fully in every moment. I have noticed since I went through the experience of severe illness for a few years, that life has felt more urgent to me, as if, I understand how real mortality is now, so it comes with this clock-ticking feeling sometimes, like I have to always be making the most of everything before time runs out. It’s fascinating to clock.
Who inspires you and why?
My artistic muse because nothing and no-one is as specific, surprising and magical as my muse!
What would you do to make a difference in the world?
What I am already doing. Helping others connect to their inner art heart and dare to create the stories, shows and creative projects that they desire to put out into the world.
Favourite holiday destination and why?
My dreams – cos those contain some of the whackiest places ever and I can fly there by simply flying myself!
When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
Fitzroy. All the cafes, the bars, the op shops, those little alleyways where you stumble upon some hip ramen joint that nobody can find, yet everybody’s there. I love it and I feel it’s very Melbourne.
What are you currently reading?
Atomic Habits by James Clear. Almost finished. It’s smashing.
What are you currently listening to?
Podcasts – lots of Diary of a CEO lately. Otherwise, the birds outside.
Happiness is?
Not wanting for anything. Full peace and contentment with what is.
What does the future hold for you?
A lot more theatre-making, both creating and performing my own shows and collaborating on and directing others. I’ll be writing a book too. Actually, I can feel myself really stepping up into something quite big in the next year. There’s a lot brewing around working with non-artists too to help them share and transform their stories. I’m very excited for my future.
