Who is John Gaden?
John Gaden is an award-winning Australian actor and director.
What would you do differently from what you do now?
I’d work as an arborist, so that I could work among trees. I love them.
Who inspires you and why?
Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He is such a brave, intelligent and principled human being.
What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Continue to do all I can to deal with climate change and to try to convince those in denial about it.
Favourite holiday destination and why?
Paris, every time. Because for some inexplicable reason I feel at home there.
When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I would take visitors to the Sydney Botanical Gardens. It’s a beautiful part of Sydney to wander and observe. Then maybe a ritzy lunch at the Opera House.
What are you currently reading?
A history of a bookshop in Paris called Shakespeare and Company.
What are you currently listening to?
I’m working my way through a complete box set of the works of J. S. Bach. I’m up to the Brandenburg concertos. I love Bach’s energy and humanity.
Happiness is?
A long Sunday lunch with friends and lots of laughter.
What does the future hold for you?
A slow decline, which I hope to make the most of.
