HAVOC – a Circus Oz Benefit Gala Extravaganza!

MF2024 Circus Oz HAVOCSavouring and celebrating a uniquely contemporary Australian humour and eclecticism, Circus Oz is back for two shows only this Melbourne Fringe with HAVOC – a Benefit Gala Extravaganza!

Devised by Debra Batton, Sharon Gruenert, Leo Pentland, Carl Polke and Nicci Wilks, HAVOC is created and performed by Circus Oz and people of the broader Australian circus scene.

Unlike anything you’ve seen before, HAVOC will feature a mass of acrobats, musicians, artistry and plenty of circus mayhem. It will be uncategorised, uncorporatised and unhinged.

HAVOC will feature thirty-five circus industry artistes who have come together over the past year to participate in free professional and skills development workshops run by Circus Oz company members. The majestic 40-piece Squawkestra! will orchestrate the unforgettable.

It is a devised piece, a collaboration of many, made on the fly, plotted and planned in a huddle, featuring group bike, flying trapeze, slap stick, improv, clowning, plate throwing, roller skating, enormous pyramids, lots of aerials and who knows what else.

Everything is ensemble based, everything is devised by the huge cast, everything will be an experience not to be missed. Two shows only – see it once, see it twice and you’ll never see it again. Don’t miss it!

Circus Oz is the longest running Contemporary Circus company in Australia. It was founded in 1978, blending traditional circus with elements of rock’n’roll, popular theatre, comedy and satire. The resulting shows are funny, irreverent and spectacular celebrations of a diverse bunch of rowdy, multi-skilled characters.
