Who is Erin Clare?
Erin Clare is a loyal friend, bad cross-country runner, and a panic joker with mild to moderate social anxiety who loves music, literature, art galleries and podcasts almost as much as she loves the humble potato chip or defining herself in 2 – 3 sentences.
What would you do differently from what you do now?
If I wasn’t an actor, I would definitely love to be a writer or something adjacent within research journalism and communications, there is so much incredible art and history to consume and reflect upon and so much creativity required in practice.
Who inspires you and why?
I am constantly inspired by my closest friends, all in really different industries and the tenacity in which they navigate the world. I love feminist writers like Clementine Ford, and Lena Dunham as they so passionately articulate the female experience – yet manage to write with such accessible vulnerability.
What would you do to make a difference in the world?
I am just one girl out here in the world, trying to accurately separate my plastics into the correct recycling bins and just trying to have positive interactions with people I come across.
Favourite Holiday destination and why?
Anywhere I can go to the beach, go for a bushwalk and an old-timey gaol doesn’t go astray.
When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
Living in Sydney’s eastern suburbs I have the privilege of living next to both our incredible harbour and surrounding botanic gardens but also our incredible beaches and coastal walks. These are a must for anyone visiting.
What are you currently reading?
I am reading Clementine’s most recent work How We Love – a memoir that explores love in its many forms, through the lens of my favourite feminist writer.
What are you listening to?
I am listening to the new season of my favourite podcast The C Word by Lena Dunham and Alissa Bennett, a historical deep dive into the life of women that society dismissed through a modern perspective critiquing the very meaning of what it is when we call a woman ‘crazy’.
Happiness is?
Happiness is taking pride and interest in your work – I feel so lucky to be able to be working in the creative industry surrounded by likeminded people, alongside a balanced fun and healthy personal life filled with great conversations and experiences. We get one life!
What does the future hold for you?
Big chats, big walks and you best believe some big hair. Bring it on.
