The final play in a trilogy of stand-alone monologues about the dark corners of big cities, The Ajoona Guest House opens the door on a dangerously beautiful, hidden New Delhi world.
Written on an Asialink India literature residency, award-winning playwright, poet and actor, Stephen House, presents the Victorian premiere of his latest work, directed by esteemed South Australian director, Rosalba Clemente.
Stephen House is an award-winning writer and actor whose plays include Almost Face to Face, Appalling Behaviour, A Thing Called Snake, Borrowed Time, Drapes, Go By Night, I Said A Word, Just Like That, Miss Blossom Callahann and VIN.
He is the recipient of many awards including two AWGIE Awards, an Adelaide Fringe Award, The Rhonda Jancovic Poetry Award for Social Justice, The Goolwa Poetry Cup, The SA Writers Centre / Feast Short Story Prize, and many press awards.
Stephen has been shortlisted for The Lane Cove Literary Award Poetry Prize, The Patrick White Playwright Award, The Queensland Premier Drama Award, Overland’s Fair Australia Fiction Prize, a Greenroom Best Independent Actor Award, many poetry prizes, and commended for The Di Cranston Script Award.
He has received International literature residencies from The Australia Council to Canada, USA and Ireland, an Asia-link literature residency to India and an Island Of Residencies to Tasmania. His poetry collection real and unreal was selected for The 2018 Chapbook Project and published by ICOE Press Australia.
