Presented at Sydney’s State Theatre for a limited-season tryout in August last year, 3 Weeks in Spring centres on the iconic story of Simpson and his Donkey and narrated by C.E.W. Bean – Australian World War I war correspondent and historian who did more than anyone to establish the ANZAC legend.

Enormous care was taken to treat the subject matter with respect, while still creating an entertaining, moving musical theatre experience. Starring Lincoln Elliott as Private John Simpson, Matthew Herne as C.E.W. Bean, Lachlan James O’Brien as Colonel John Monash and Courtney Powell as Hannah Monash, the performance was filmed live on 13 August 2019.

“It was obvious that all involved had embraced the sensitivity and understood the responsibility of telling this story…” – Anne Carroll OAM ( C.E.W Bean’s granddaughter)

3 Weeks in Spring: Live at the State Theatre will be available to view, free of charge, on Saturday 25 & Sunday 26 April 2020. Click here to view. For more information, visit: www.weeksinspring.com for details.
