The live-action thriller, 2:22 – A Ghost Story, will make its Australian premiere tonight at Melbourne’s Her Majesty’s Theatre.
Written by award-winning writer and creator of the hit BBC podcast The Battersea Poltergeist, Danny Robins, 2:22 – A Ghost Story is directed by Olivier Award-nominee Matthew Dunster, and stars Daniel MacPherson, Ruby Rose, Gemma Ward and Remy Hii. The play also features Ayeesha Ash and Jack Van Staveren.
A brilliantly funny and adrenaline-filled play, where secrets emerge, and ghosts may or may not appear. 2:22 – A Ghost Story follows a spiralling dinner party between friends, where boundaries are pushed, secrets are spilled, and beliefs are tested.
Jenny (Gemma Ward) believes her new home is haunted, but her husband, Sam (Remy Hii) isn’t having any of it. They argue with their first dinner guests, old friend Lauren (Ruby Rose) and new partner Ben (Daniel MacPherson).
Can the dead really walk again? Belief and scepticism clash but something feels strange and frightening. They’re going to stay up… until 2:22… and then they’ll know.
The Olivier nominated production and winner of Best New Play (What’s on Stage) combines supernatural intrigue and social commentary in a spine-chilling thriller that has garnered critical acclaim and quickly became a cult global phenomenon with multiple productions on the West End and LA.
The UK and LA productions previously saw high-profile actors and celebrities, including Lily Allen, Sophia Bush, Stephanie Beatriz, Tom Felton, and Cheryl, cast in previous seasons, adding another dimension to the show for audiences.
The production features a set design by Anna Fleischle, costume design by Cindy Lin, lighting design by Lucy Carter, sound by Ian Dickinson, and illusions by Chris Fisher.
