Linden New Art has announced the winners of the 29th annual small works exhibition, Linden Postcard Show 2019-20, which attracted a record-breaking 1,250 entries from living artists across the country.
The challenging task of considering over 1,200 brilliant small artworks fell on the shoulders of two independent judges: Julie McLaren, Curator at Ballarat Art Gallery and Director Phillip Adams of Temperance Hall and BalletLab.
The winning postcard entry was Mark Hopper with his 2019 artwork titled Shaun the Wanderer.
When carefully deliberating the overall winner, both judges said: “We were drawn to the haunting and arresting subject of the winning work. The person captured made us feel alarmed and concerned…”
Best Photograph – $400 cash prize Supported by This Week In St Kilda David Apostol, 2884/23, 2019, photograph.
