Metanoia Theatre The Omission of the Coleman FamilyAfter a decade of touring the world, Metanoia Theatre presents the Melbourne premiere season of Claudio Tolcachir’s hilarious Argentinian comedy, The Omission of the Coleman Family at the Brunswick Mechanics Institute from 12 April 2017.

The Coleman’s etch out an impossible existence in their absurd day to day where violence is normal and the pathetic is ignored. An award-winning eccentric and sardonic comedy about a family on the brink of separation, get on board for a wild ride into the heart of this unique family unit and discover all of the things they leave out.

Directed by Gorkem Acaroglu (The 24 Hour Experience, Milk Bars, 10Cs), The Omission of the Coleman Family features an incredible cast of performers from a range of diverse Australian backgrounds, including Nicholas Stribakos, Ange Arabatzis, Carmelina Di Guglielmo, Miles Paras, Greg Ulfan, Nicole Chamoun, Luca Romani and Romina Verdiglione.

“The Coleman family are like many Australian families – lots of personality, lots of drama, lots of love,” says director Gorkem Acaroglu. “It’s a classic dark comedy that twists and turns and takes us places we didn’t expect, laughing the whole way.”

Written by Claudio Tolcachir, The Omission of the Coleman Family gives voice to the contemporary Argentinian social experience. Exploring the ties and contradictions of an eccentric and familiar family, the play was developed through a series of improvisations with a company of actors who met over the course of three months at the director’s home.

Claudio Tolcachir is an Argentinian actor, playwright, theatre director, and Founder of the company, Timbre 4. In addition to The Omission of the Coleman Family, his works as a playwright include Third Body, The Wind in a Violin, Emilia. His work as a director includes: Good People, Dinamo, Oh, Divine Love! and The Lie. In 2012 he was recognized by the Legislature of Buenos Aires as Outstanding Personality of Culture.
