Much-loved cabaret provocateur and dissident diva, Yana Alana, invites you into her bedroom for an intimate live art cabaret experience in Tears Before Bedtime; as a handful of lucky participants take a curious journey through Yana’s subconscious. Accompanied by the eccentric, steadfast Bec Beat, you will be privy to Yana’s fantasies, nightmares, hopes, dreams and dirty laundry.
Like taking temazepam with an amphetamine chaser, Tears Before Bedtime explores the thoughts that keep you awake at night and the shadows that haunt your dreams and is best experienced in the comfort of your pyjamas, onesey or nightie.
Yana Alana first imposed herself on audiences in 2006 and quickly manipulated her way into award winning seasons of the first show Bite Me in Melbourne Fringe, Melbourne Comedy Festival, Adelaide Cabaret Festival, MidSumma, and Feast.
Concert was presented as a part of the 2010 Midsumma and received six Greenroom awards including Best Production, Best Original Music, Best Musical Direction, Best Cabaret Artiste, Best Ensemble and Best Director. Most recently Yana Alana presented Between The Cracks, as a part of the Midsumma and Melbourne Cabaret Festival 2013, and appeared in La Soiree at the Opera House in January 2014.
Tears Before Bedtime is written and performed by Sarah Ward, with Bec Beat (Tha Parana) as performer and co-musical director, and direction and design by Adrienne Chisolm, and was commissioned by Theatre Works in 2013 as part of its ENCOUNTER(S) program.
