Sydney Fringe Comedy announce 2017 program

Sydney Fringe Comedy Menagerie Josipa DraismaThe team behind the Sydney Comedy Festival will present the seventh annual Sydney Fringe Comedy program from Tuesday 29 August to Sunday 1 October 2017 – a one-month celebration of the very best new comedy featuring an incredible line up of the most promising emerging comedic talent, alongside established performers presenting exclusively new, original material.

In 2017, the Festival will showcase the talents of over 100 acts from Australia and beyond, with several shows taking place each night at the buzzing Festival Hub at The Factory Theatre, Marrickville, alongside music, food and plenty of beverages.

“The best way to enjoy Sydney Fringe Comedy is to come down to the Festival Hub at the Factory Theatre, grab a drink and something to eat, and then take a chance on a comedian that you’ve never seen before,” says Program Director Shane Smith.

“We run multiple sessions each night across five venues and we try to keep the ticket prices as low as possible so you can see brand new comedy from some of Sydney and Australia’s best comedians on the cheap! And you might just discover your new favourite act in the process!”

Since its inception, Sydney Fringe Comedy has hosted the debut performance of thousands of shows, many of which have gone on to win prestigious awards, including shows by Aaron Chen (Best Newcomer – Sydney Comedy Festival and MICF 2017), Tom Walker (Best Newcomer – MICF 2016), Rhys Nicholson (Barry Award nominee – MICF 2016) and Ronny Chieng (Director’s Choice – MICF 2014, ARIA Awards 2015 nominee and Helpmann Awards 2015 nominee).

Sydney Fringe Comedy takes place at The Factory Theatre, Marrickville: 29 August – 1 October 2017. For more information and full program, visit: www.fringecomedy.com.au for details.
