Rhonda Burchmore – Vinyl Viagra

VV_Rhonda BurchmoreThis February, see Rhonda Burchmore like you’ve never seen her before, as she unleashes her inner Vixen at Arts Centre Melbourne for three special performances.

Written and Directed by Dean Bryant, temperatures soar as Rhonda whips up a frenzy, an empowering vocal seductress, in burly burlesque, channeling the ballads of Dietrich, Bassey, Cher, Amphlet, Madonna, Kylie, Beyonce, Perry and Gaga.

Hearts will palpitate as Rhonda basks in smoky Berlin, welcoming you to her parlour of adventurous and sublime sensuality with cabaret arrangements of I Touch Myself, Private Dancer, Born this Way, If I Could Turn Back Time, Wrecking Ball, Locomotion and Back to Black, and many more.

Indulging in a devilish fantasy, the temptress adorns herself with male dancers, burning up the floor in a toy-boisterous, bold and brassy night of hard liquor.

A legend of the Australian stage, Rhonda started performing at two years old and became internationally known for her role as Kate in the 1982 film, The Pirate Movie. She gave her first major Australian theatre performance in the 1988 production of Sugar Babies.

Rhonda  has gone onto appear in Hot Shoe Shuffle, Annie Get Your Gun, Guys & Dolls, Mamma Mia, Urinetown the Musical, Little Orphan Trashley, Up Close & Personal, and recently La Cage aux Folles, just to name a few.

In 2014, Rhonda was awarded a medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to the performing arts and to the community, as well as the Cabaret Icon Award at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival. She is the most prolific major star to have performed at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival for the past nine years having appeared in no less than six solo performances as the main artist of the Cabaret Festival.

“She moves effortlessly from brassy up-beat numbers to torch songs to sultry blues…” – The Daily Telegraph
