PUFFS will not just become the longest running play in Melbourne this century by the time the season concludes, it will actually be the longest running play in Melbourne for the past 48 years! Noted theatre historian, Frank van Straten AM, confirmed that not since the famous season of The Boys in the Band at the original Playbox Theatre has a play run as long. That season commenced 3 June 1969 and closed 7 February 1970.

The PUFFS season at the Alex Theatre St Kilda, will have notched up 92 performances over the course of its 11.5 week season, which commenced on Saturday 26 May 2018, wrapping up on Sunday 12 August 2018. In the coming weeks, it will soon surpass the acclaimed National Theatre (UK) production of War Horse that ran for 10 weeks in Melbourne from December 2012 through to March 2013.

Meanwhile the New York production of PUFFS continues its record breaking run at New World Stages, celebrating 500 performances this coming Saturday 21 July 2018.

Audiences and critics have been overwhelmingly united in their response to PUFFS since the show opened to rave reviews and continues to receive 5-star praise from all those who experience its hilarity night after night.

PUFFS continues its remarkable success with eight performances each week including two weekend matinees designated “family friendly” for ages 8 and above with evening performances recommended for audiences aged 15 years and above.

For seven years a certain boy wizard went to a certain Wizard School and conquered evil. This, however, is not his story. This is the story of The Puffs… who just happened to be there too. A tale for anyone who has never been destined to save the world.

PUFFS is a wizard inspired comedy play which gives you a new look at a familiar adventure from the perspective of three new heroes just trying to make it through magic school.

Written by Matt Cox and directed by Kristin McCarthy Parker, PUFFS features Keith Brockett, Zenya Carmellotti, Olivia Charalambous, Daniel Cosgrove, Ryan Hawke, Gareth Isaac, Lauren McKenna, Eva Seymour, David Todman, Annabelle Tudor, Tammy Weller, Matthew Whitty and Rob Mills.

“When Miriam Margolyes announced Puffs earlier in the year, she promised something spectacular and fun, which this cast and crew have delivered in abundance.” – David Collins, Australian Arts Review
