Paul Capsis: Addicted to the Nightlife

Paul Capsis: Addicted to the NightlifeAustralian cabaret icon, Paul Capsis will bring his sparkle and majesty in a blast-off Cabaret to let go and say goodbye to a challenging year in two special performances at Lismore City Hall this December.

Capsis is a one man protest. He will not give up his right to inhabit the night with songs, with rocking out, with being a total full-on rock Queen! The night belongs to all of us… come celebrate with a night of exploring the delicious music of Patti Smith, Skyhooks, Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, Judy Garland, Billie Holiday, Ike and Tina Turner, Doris Day, Thelma Houston and many more…

Well known to Australian audiences as one of our most versatile and successful performers, Capsis has won accolades including Helpmann Awards for Angela’s Kitchen for the Griffin Theatre Company, The Lost Echo at STC, and cabaret performances Boulevard Delirium and Capsis vs Capsis.

Other credits include his acclaimed performance of Riff Raff in The Rocky Horror Show, Malthouse Theatre and Victorian Opera’s The Threepenny Opera, MTC’s All About My Mother, Little Bird at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, the State Theatre Company of South Australia’s reinvention of Pinocchio, Belvoir’s The Wizard of Oz, and recently as Quentin Crisp in Resident Alien in Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra.

Capsis also has a long list of film and television credits, most notably receiving an AFI Award nomination for film Head On and most recently performing in the ABC telemovie Carlotta and SBS’s Deep Water. He is soon to make his return to the musical theatre stage in the iconic role of the Emcee in Cabaret at Sydney’s Hayes Theatre and Melbourne’s Athenaeum Theatre in 2017.
