On the Couch with Thando Sikwila

Thando Sikwila Arts Review On the CouchWho is Thando Sikwila?
Thando Sikwila.

What would you do differently to what you do now?
I’d probably be a guidance counsellor.

Who inspires you and why?
My mother. She’s showed me dedication to your life’s quest and hard work ALWAYS yields results.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Find a global solution to end famine and replenish the world’s resources.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Canberra, because it’s quiet and I get to catch up with my high school friends. I also get away from hectic Melbourne life and get to write songs with a clear mind.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I take them to live music venues. Alumbra on a Sunday night for soul sessions, and Cherry Bar on a Thursday night for their Soul in the Basement night. I have a penchant for Soul music.

What are you currently reading?
My script for the show, Bowie & Mercury Rising.

What are you currently listening to?
Solange: A Seat at the Table. It’s a masterpiece.

Happiness is?
Good food, good wine and great sex.

What does the future hold for you?
A tour of Western Australia with my band, releasing a few new singles and hopefully getting married to my long term partner Henry.

Thando can be seen in Bowie & Mercury Rising at Prahran’s Chapel Off Chapel for a limited season from 26 July 2017. For more information, visit: www.chapeloffchapel.com.au for details.
