On the Couch with Susie McCann

Arts Review On the Couch Susie McCannWho is Susie McCann?
Susie McCann is a Melbourne based actor and singer. She performs regularly with 1940’s trio, The Pacific Belles and is soon to start her Raise the Bail Tour with her self devised cabaret show, Bogan Bombshell – Janeen from Clarinda. She also teaches singing and piano to many wonderful and inspiring students.

What would you do differently to what you do now?
Nothing. I can’t imagine not singing or playing piano.

Who inspires you and why?
Risk takers. People who have overcome adversity against all odds and come out the other side smiling and grateful for what life has to offer.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Getting people to practise mindfulness. Even if it’s just writing down 3 things you are grateful for today, or taking deep breaths for a whole minute. Even looking up at the clouds.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
I love New York City. Everywhere you turn you get the feeling you are on a movie set. And there’s something about seeing two Broadway shows in one day that excites me!

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I enjoy talking friends to the many hidden bars of Melbourne. Favourites include Jungle Boy on Chapel Street and Fall From Grace in the CBD.

What are you currently reading?
A Whole Load of Front
– an autobiography of Australian performer Maria Venuti.

What are you currently listening to?
The Joan Baez Country Music Album as I heard her in concert recently at Hamer Hall.

Happiness is?
Making people laugh.

What does the future hold for you?
Maybe taking Janeen to far far away places…
