On the Couch with Sophie Wright

sophie-wright-arts-review-on-the-couchWho is Sophie Wright?
I am a 26 year old music theatre performer currently in Kinky Boots the musical!

What would you do differently to what you do now?
I would probably be a performance psychologist as I am currently studying that at the moment!

Who inspires you and why?
I am constantly inspired by the people I work with in Kinky Boots! The cast is incredible and the way everyone performs is quite amazing. The way everyone approaches this show with such kindness and hard work, as well as the creative team is really inspiring and I am so lucky to be apart of it.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
I would love to help younger generations with self-acceptance and self worth. I am a performance coach and I help young performers build resilience and teach them confidence to become better performers as well as just being comfortable in their own skin. I would love this to be taught in schools to all children at an early age, it would be so beneficial for them.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Somewhere where there is no phone reception and beautiful landscape! I love the country so possibly somewhere like Daylesford or even Orange?

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I would probably take them to one of my favourite cafes called ‘Glovers Station’ in Caulfield. Then I would take them for a nice walk around the Tan, and possibly along the Yarra River.

What are you currently reading?
Me Before You by Jojo Moyes.

What are you currently listening to?
I found this artist I love and they’re called The Common Linnets.

Happiness is?
When you can look around at your life and appreciate everything in it for what it is right now.

What does the future hold for you?
Hopefully more performing! I would also love to continue my coaching and use my performing as a platform to be able to help more people.
