On the Couch with Simon Gleeson

Simon Gleeson AAR On the CouchWho is Simon Gleeson?
I think, subconsciously I became an actor to work out this very question. If I knew the answer perhaps I wouldn’t act anymore. I’m glad I’m no closer to working it out.

What would you do differently to what you do now?
As a child growing up in the country I entertained the idea of farming. But as an adult I only ever wanted to act and write.

Who inspires you and why?
Anyone who perseveres beyond what they thought possible regardless of the obstacles.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
I’d like to think those who tell stories do make a small difference in the world. I feel very fortunate to have job that has the potential to inspire, challenge and entertain.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
France – Paris, Lyon or down south. I love the language, the countryside and of course the food.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I’m going to use our home base of Geelong. I’d take people to the beach, down the beautiful Great Ocean Road.

What are you currently reading?
Don Quixote.

What are you currently listening to?
As I write I’m jumping into my past with The Badloves – Everybody Everywhere.

Happiness is?
My family.

What does the future hold for you?
My wife, Natalie is on tour with Mamma Mia! so my immediate future is looking after our two children as well as doing a classic musical and a fantastic play with the Melbourne Theatre Company.
