On the Couch with Sarah Bishop

Sarah Bishop Arts Review On the CouchWho is Sarah Bishop?
I am an actress and producer on the new Australian indie feature Crushed. I am also one third of the comedy group Skit Box behind the song Activewear and the upcoming ABC sketch series, Wham Bam Thank You Ma’am. I currently live between Sydney and Los Angeles and am originally from Far North Queensland.

What would you do differently to what you do now?
I love my job now, but if I couldn’t work in film and tv then I would love to work in an animal sanctuary or be a helicopter pilot!

Who inspires you and why?
Game changers. People who carve out their own path and act with creativity and integrity. I love musicians like Macklemore or Belgian artist Stromae – genuine artists who speak and create from the heart. And leaders in their fields like Elon Musk, Obama, Lena Dunham and Richard Branson.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
I grew up as the daughter of a marine biologist so I’ve always had an interest in marine parks and working to conserve the incredible marine life we have in this country and on the planet.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
The Galapagos for the marine life, Austin for the nightlife and culture and Rome for the food!

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
Black Star Pastry for the watermelon cake. People shouldn’t leave Sydney without trying it!

What are you currently reading?
A biography on Elon Musk.

What are you currently listening to?
A lot of Australian hip-hop including Illy and Remi.

Happiness is?
The watermelon cake from Black Star!

What does the future hold for you?
Hopefully more work on film and tv projects that excite me with people that I love.
