I’m 9, I’m a drummer and playing Freddy in School of Rock.

What would you do differently to what you do now?
Nothing! I can’t imagine doing anything more exciting than School of Rock. I get to do everything I love in the one show!

Who inspires you and why?
Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters Drummer) because he’s an amazing musician and he doesn’t have a big ego, he’s just himself.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
I think we need to remember to smile at each other, even people we may not know. It just might make someone’s day a little brighter.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Queensland because it’s warm and I get to spend time with my relatives who live there. The theme parks are pretty cool too.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
Luna Park because it’s so much fun and the rides are so awesome. I really love going at night when the lights are bright and colourful.

What are you currently reading?
Stories for Boys Who Dare to be Different by Ben Brooks.

What are you currently listening to?
I listen to all sorts of music really, but Foo Fighters and Green Day are always on my playlist.

Happiness is?
Spending time with my Family, my cats & my parrot and being part of School of Rock of course!

What does the future hold for you?
I really hope that I get to spend lots of time performing in a band someday and my dream is to perform at Etihad! I’ve always had an interest emergency services too,  so maybe that could be my day job!

At just four years old, Kempton took up the drums and within months of his first lesson, was performing at various school events and festivals. In 2017, Kempton joined the orchestra on drums for Bending Broadway, which was a dream come true. He has appeared in numerous amateur musical theatre productions. He was Jeremy in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Oliver in Oliver, and Chip in Beauty and The Beast. Kempton is a car nut – the older the better, it’s all about vintage.

Kemptom stars as Freddy in School of Rock The Musical – which opens at Her Majesty’s Theatre, Melbourne on Friday 9 November 2018 (previews from 31 October). For more information, visit: www.schoolofrockthemusical.com.au for details.
