Arts Review On the Couch Kane AlexanderWho is Kane Alexander ?
Actor, Singer and business owner (Photography company – Verve Portraits). About to open as Detective Stone in City of Angels in the Playhouse Theatre in Melbourne.

What would you do differently to what you do now?
I’d love to procrastinate less and be more attentive to the beautiful things around me.

Who inspires you and why?
People dedicated to inspiring others to reach their potential (Teachers, Coaches, Mentors, Managers etc) and those willing to be inspired.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Try and help people respect themselves and others with differing beliefs and values. Wouldn’t the world be a much better place to exist if we all accepted each other & lived harmoniously despite differences in religion, politics, sexuality & race?

Favourite holiday destination and why?
I’ve had a love affair with New York City since living there about 10 years ago. I love soaking up the culture: Food, Jazz Clubs, Galleries, Bars, Parks, Theatres. Each time I visit, I leave feeling excited, inspired and alive.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I take them for cocktails at The Everleigh in Fitzroy (my favourite bar) followed by a meal at Rice Paper Scissors in the CBD (my favourite restaurant). A stroll along the Yarra at the Southbank precinct is a great way to end the night.

What are you currently reading?
A Challenge For The Actor by Uta Hagen. I’m revisiting a book I read in Acting school many years ago.

What are you currently listening to?
Ella Fitzgerald: Twelve Nights In Hollywood. An incredible 4 disc set showcasing the extraordinary woman’s voice over twelve live concerts in Hollywood in the 1960’s.

Happiness is?
Hearing a song again years later and remembering the lyrics.

What does the future hold for you?
In the near future, City of Angels, followed by another trip to NYC for thanksgiving where I intend to consume as many Eggnogs as possible.
