On the Couch with Jemma Rix

Disney-Frozen-Jemma-RixWho is Jemma Rix?
Jemma Rix is someone I’m still discovering and learning about. I lead with kindness and I’m a very empathetic person. I love to listen, and I admire people from all walks of life. I always try to make those around me laugh, even if it is at my own expense!

What would you do differently from what you do now?
If I wasn’t in musical theatre, I would’ve loved to have studied and become a psychologist.

Who inspires you and why?
So many people! Anyone who goes through hardships and doesn’t let that defeat them. Observing that strength in a person, in any area of life, is so inspiring!

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Personally, I love getting the chance to talk to kids who are aspiring performers and answer any questions they have about the musical theatre industry or performing. On a global scale, with a magic wand, I’d love for people to treat others how they would like to be treated.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Hawaii! It’s a magical place. Wonderful weather and the clearest water. My favourite part is swimming with the turtles.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I’d take them on the coastal walk from Bondi to Bronte. There’s nothing better than walking with your friends and feeling the fresh ocean air on your skin whilst looking out to sea. Depending on the season, you might even be lucky enough to see a pod of dolphins or a whale!

What are you currently reading?
I’m currently reading Conversations With Friends by Sally Rooney.

What are you currently listening to?
I’m currently listening to Taylor Swift’s Folklore album.

Happiness is?
For me, happiness is walking my dog Cherry with my husband and having a deliciously strong coffee in my hand.

What does the future hold for you?
I have no idea what the future holds – how exciting is that! It’s also a valuable reminder to never take anything for granted.
