On the Couch with Dylan Watson

Dylan Watson_oncWho is Dylan Watson?
I’m an actor. I’m 31 and look 23. I’m a gamer (don’t get me started) and lover of good chocolate and wine.

What would you do differently to what you do now?
If it was a different career path, I’d love to try writing. There are some incredible stories being told in video games, I think I’d find that really fulfilling. I would like to spend more time treating myself kindly.

Who inspires you and why?
My wife Tilly. She has boundless patience and compassion and they are two of the most crucial traits to making a good person. Anyone who has been down a hard road and keeps going. Larry Moss for… countless things really. Bradley Cooper, Paul Dano, Darren Aronofsky, Shane Carruth. Great teachers inspire me!

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Encourage people to actively educate themselves on what is happening in the world. I’d engage more actively in movements with aims to create equality and harmony with each other and our environment. I would like to use my art as a way of encouraging these things.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
New York. There is an energy, a vibrancy to that place that is exhilarating. If it was a relaxing holiday, Thailand is a pretty great place.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take then to, and why?
Anywhere with good food and a great wine selection! At the moment Cookie is a favourite. But I’m not big on going out, I’d rather have a night in with friends where we can have great chats and pissfart around.

What are you currently reading?
The French Revolution by Christopher Hibbert, The Bible and The Gift of Imperfection by Brene Brown.

What are you currently listening to?
I will never stop listening to Deftones, Glassjaw or Jeff Buckley. I’m very much looking forward to Husky’s new album. I’ve also been listening to a lot of Nils Frahm and Olafur Arnalds.

Happiness is?
“I am enough just the way I am.” Days where my self-esteem is not dependent on how my career is going, days where I get me time and time with my wife and/or friends.

What does the future hold for you?
Bigger challenges, more travel, and some great opportunities. Watch this space!
