Who is Diana Nguyen?
Diana Nguyen is a nonstop creative machine. I got into stand up because I realized it was the space where I couldn’t be pulled off stage. I am releasing a web series that I co-created – www.phiandme.com.au. It’s taken five years. Ready to give birth. I am dirty – I would love to throw an egg at Fraser Anning’s head too.
What would you do differently to what you do now?
When I was 22 years old I had an opportunity to do further acting studies (ie VCA and WAAPA) but I chose love. Don’t choose love!
Who inspires you and why?
In the comedy scene I freaking admire Ali Wong and Ronny Chieng. They have taken comedy to another scene. Ali Wong just keeps having babies and doing specials on Netflix, and Ronny Chieng was a lawyer then became a comedian and now acts in movies. Stop taking my job Ronny!
What would you do to make a difference in the world?
How long is this couch? Kindness. If everyone respected each other and were kind, we wouldn’t have murder and violence in the world. #TrueStory
Favourite holiday destination and why?
In 2017, I walked the Camino de Santiago in Spain. Which means I carried 7kgs on my back while walking 820kms in 33 days. It was the crazy thing to do before Edinburgh Fringe. That’s right. I walked 820kms before performing in Edinburgh – 28 shows in 14 days. How did I do it? I’m just dirty.
When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
The Crown Casino hourly fire light installation. In Winter it is a great place to keep warm and the closest thing to dragons.
What are you currently reading?
The Barefoot Investor for Families by Scott Pape – because I want money, and I would like to have a family.
What are you currently listening to?
A lot of dirty songs. Dirrty by Christina Aguilera and Pony by Ginuwine.
Happiness is?
A nice big snuggle.
What does the future hold for you?
