On the Couch with Chiara Assetta

Chiara-Assetta-AAR-On-the-CouchWho is Chiara Assetta?
I would describe myself as a loud, talkative and positive person who is a bit oblivious to the world at times, which I tend to enjoy. I love being around family and friends and my ideal day would be at the beach with an açai bowl in hand, surrounded by sunshine and the sound of the ocean.

What would you do differently from what you do now?
I actually don’t think I’d do anything differently. I always knew growing up that performing was what I wanted to do and even when I was at school, I had a really hard time thinking about something as a back up plan because my goal in life was just to always be apart of the entertainment industry. However, there has always been apart of me that’s desperately wanted to either be a figure skater or a latin ballroom dancer.

Who inspires you and why?
Kelly Abbey. Kelly is just someone who has and continues to have such an incredible career with so much versatility. Not only is she an amazing artist and creative but she also comes across as such a beautiful human who genuinely cares about others. I think in this industry it’s easy to be talented and successful in one way or another and let it get to your head. She shows that you can be incredibly successful but also be a beautiful and caring human being at the same time, which is what I truly admire about her.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Do more things for others without expecting anything in return. Just making someone smile on the street or doing something random for someone you either known or don’t know to help make their life just a bit easier.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Anywhere in Japan! I lived in Japan for 16 months and went to so many places and from the culture to the food to the natural beauty of the country, I just can’t fault how incredible it is.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I love taking them for the coastal work from Coogee to Bondi. I think the beauty of Australia is evident and basically speaks for itself when you walk along the coast. It’s stunning!

What are you currently reading?
I don’t read unfortunately as I get distracted way too easily but I’m currently watching Gilmore Girls on Netflix and I’m obsessed.

What are you currently listening to?
I am currently listening to the best of the 80’s and 90’s playlist on Spotify as that combo of music is defiantly is my favourite kind of music to listen to and gets me motivated and pumped for the day.

Happiness is?
Being surrounded by the right people. I believe no matter how successful you are in life, if you’re surrounded by an endless amount of love, support and kindness, then you’re cable of achieving anything. I am always my happiest when I’m surrounded by the people I love and know love me.

What does the future hold for you?
I look into my future and see myself performing until I’m playing the nonna role (grandmother in Italian) in musicals haha. But in all seriousness, I hope to continue to be in musicals as part of the ensemble and then play some supporting and leading roles as I get older. I also hope that I venture down the path of becoming a creative behind the scenes by being a choreographer on musicals or a creative director in the arts industry whether that’s on tv shows or movies etc etc… But I know that whatever I do, I’ll always be performing.
