Who is Anna Goldsworthy?
Pianist, writer, teacher, mother – not always in that order.
What would you do differently to what you do now?
If what? If I had infinite financial resources I might spend more time writing and playing the piano and less time doing housework/fielding emails (electronic housework).
Who inspires you and why?
My friends. My teachers. My children. The musicians and storytellers I collaborate with. The composers and writers I love.
What would you do to make a difference in the world?
I hope what I do makes some sort of difference in the world. At the very least it stakes a small claim for the human.
Favourite holiday destination and why?
New York, because it’s the centre of the known universe.
When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I usually take them up to the Adelaide Hills for lunch in Stirling and a walk in the Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens. Because it’s so close and so beautiful.
What are you currently reading?
Speaking of inspiring friends, Chloe Hooper’s The Arsonist.
What are you currently listening to?
Morimur by the Hilliard Ensemble. A friend from my Melbourne book club sent it to me some time ago, and I can’t get enough of it.
Happiness is?
The moment of creation.
What does the future hold for you?
My beautiful boys growing up while I continue making things.
Anna as part of the Seraphim Trio will be joined by Sydney Symphony Orchestra Concertmaster Andrew Haveron and violist Jacqueline Cronin to perform Schumann’s Quintet in E flat major and Korngold’s Suite for two violins, cello, and piano left hand, Op.23 at the Melbourne Recital Centre on Thursday 1 November 2018.
