On the Couch with Amartuvshin Enkhbat

Amartuvshin Enkhbat AAR On the CouchWho is Amartuvshin Enkhbat?
I am a proud Mongolian who followed his dream of singing and graduated from the State University of Arts and Culture. I have worked very hard to achieve this dream of mine and am still working to see it through.

What would you do differently to what you do now?
Nothing. I work with the Ariosi Management (in Switzerland) and tour around the world singing in different operas alongside with many great and inspiring artists. Currently I am getting ready to sing the role of Rigoletto in Rigoletto by Verdi at the State Theatre in Melbourne. This is my first time singing in Australia.

Who inspires you and why?
I truly love my profession. I think that I my voice is a gift from my parents, from the wide steppe of Mongolia and from my ancestors. Our country, Genghis Khan’s homeland, has a long history of singing (our people love to sing). Just by knowing that I am a descendant of great Khans like Genghis Khan, I feel inspired!

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
With the wide globalization of today, my no.1 concern is shortage of clean water. I also worry about how our earth is quickly changing and of course how people are fighting with each other every day around the world. Mongolia is facing problems such as desertification due to the mining industry’s reckless operations which worries me as well. Although I don’t have anything planned to tackle all these problems, I believe that if I live my life as best I can and other people do the same then we can make a difference. A change always starts from an individual, I think. In the future I would like to be the voice for loving our earth and living a peaceful life all together.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
I have been working abroad for the past three years, away from my family and my country, so the best place to relax is at home with my parents.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
Regardless of where I am when my friends visit, the first place to show them is the opera house of that particular place. I think the reason behind it is obvious 🙂

What are you currently reading?
I am not much of a reader. I am always busy either singing or watching videos of others singing to do research and better myself. But I like to watch different documentaries that are not related to music.

What are you currently listening to?
I am listening to many things. I like to listen to the opera masters and compare them. I also love to listen instrumental music.

Happiness is?
Happiness is probably to be healthy! And to have a peaceful mind. For me a happiness is also to listen to a recording of mine after a big performance.

What does the future hold for you?
I want to sing at big opera houses around the world and further my career.
