On the Couch with Alyce Platt

Arts Review On the Couch Alyce PlattWho is Alyce Platt?
I am a singer/song writer and actress. I love singing and I have just released my new album Funny Little World. I was well known, perhaps even considered a ‘household name’, for my work on TV shows, Sons and Daughters and Sale Of The Century, and I hope that will be the case for my music as well.

What would you do differently to what you do now?
I would be kinder to myself and not worry as much.

Who inspires you and why?
My mother. She is a great teacher for me. She says it how it is and is super kind and generous and a great tipper. You luck out if you are serving her at a restaurant or cutting her hair or delivering her milk, newspapers and collecting her rubbish. Oh, and she is loved by billions of wild birds for whom she feeds every day and puts water out for them when it is too hot. And she calls me to do the same.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Make meditation, conscious breathing and living compulsory learning at our schools. And ban ALL GUNS!!!

Favourite holiday destination and why?
India. I went there with very little warning, a week in fact, I had no expectations and found myself in a world of absolute blissful chaos.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take then to, and why?
Elwood’s Point Ormond to watch the sunset.

What are you currently reading?
I haven’t been doing much reading of late as I’ve been in the recording studio. Every waking moment has been dedicated to Funny Little World.  I do have How to Tidy Your Life on my bedside table beckoning to be read.

What are you currently listening to?
Chet Faker, Serge Gainsbourg, Velevet Underground, Vince Jones, Ennio Morricone.

Happiness is?
Being in the recording studio making music. Self love and being present make for happiness too.

What does the future hold for you?
Amazing things! I will never stop learning and I will always aspire to being the best I can possibly be.
