My Life in the Nude

My Life in the Nude_credit Paul DunnIn 2013, Maude Davey ‘retired’ her nude acts with this powerful and beautiful retrospective – she said it was the last time, but after an overwhelming response here she is (back) in the nude again!

A burlesque dissection of Maude’s un-clothed career, My Life in the Nude is a celebration of the corporeal, a queer history lesson and an urgent affirmation of shared humanity all rolled up into two unmiss-able hours of brutally honest cabaret.

“What happened in that beautiful, tiny, most special room that is La Mama was much, much more than the sum of its parts,” said Maude Davey.

“It was as if, in my attempt to leave behind this part of my performance history, I had created something which insisted that I keep doing it – fortyfivedownstairs is the perfect venue, with the perfect audience for this work and I’m delighted that I can do it again.”

“This show is all about Maude’s naked moments, most of which have nothing to do with being nude.” – Sometimes Melbourne
