MICF: The Lost, Lost, Lost Cabaret

Choo Choo Troupe The Lost, Lost, Lost CabaretIn a delightful space downstairs at the Butterfly Club, with the help of Pinky – her sweet, Che Guevara-looking, red nose wearing, sidekick – Sharnema Nougar gave us an irreverent theatrical smorgasbord of anarchy and light.

Clad resplendent in a tutu forged from pots and colanders, she conducted (courtesy of two pairs of tongs) a funny and charming hour that included wee samples from other acts coming in the Melbourne International Comedy Festival (MICF).

An unpredictable performance (it’s not every show Jesus shows up only to be turned away with, “That’s just Wayne”), with so much heart, Sharnema had the audience onside from the moment she extricated herself from the curtain and came onstage, until a final singalong.

Jeeze Louise, this was fun. A, “bombastic doozy,” if there ever was one.
