Spanning four decades that simultaneously skewers and relishes the bygone glory of the baby boomer generation, Red Stitch Actors Theatre presents the Australian Premiere of Mike Bartlett’s sharp-witted drama, Love Love Love at the Red Stitch Theatre from 5 June 2015.
It’s 1967, and the summer of love. 19 year-old students Kenneth and Sandra know the world is changing and they want some of it. Smoking, drinking, affectionate and irresponsible, the play follows their journey from that halcyon summer through 40 years of marriage.
Love Love Love sees Red Stitch Artistic Director Ella Caldwell in her first role for 2015. Caldwell is joined by Ensemble Members, Paul Ashcroft and Jordan Fraser-Trumble, and Guests Artists Rory Kelly and Jem Nicholas – making her Red Stitch debut.
Mike Bartlett has gained a reputation as one of Britain’s most exciting playwrights, with Love Love Love winning Best New Play at the 2011 UK Theatre Awards. His other plays include: Bull, Medea, Chariots Of Fire, 13, Decade, Earthquakes in London, and Contradiction.
After directing Belleville for Red Stitch in 2014, Denny Lawrence returns to direct Love Love Love. Lawrence is an award-winning actor, writer, director and producer who has worked in film, theatre and television in Canada, UK, and USA, as well as in Australia.
