Kammervolk: Immersion

Kammervolk Immersion After a sell-out debut concert in 2016, Melbourne art collective Kammervolk return with Immersion at Thornbury’s Neon Parlour on Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 May 2017.

Curated by composer Allison Wright, Immersion alludes to the traditions of Warhol’s factory in a 21st Century context, focusing on escapism through extrasensory experiences with Melbourne’s prominent young multidisciplinary artists, musicians, and creators.

This intimate performance will premiere new music by Allison Wright, as well as works by Bryce Dessner (US), Missy Mazzoli (US), Maja Puseljic and local composers Louisa Trewartha and Georgie Darvidis, with textile design by Simone Berman, and Digital Programming by Robert Jarvis.

Immersion features an ensemble of exceptional strings musicians, Kyla Matsuura-Miller, Clare Gorton, Natasha Conrau, and Stephanie Arnold. DJ Slippery Peat will spin post-show beats. Immersion also features a selection of visual works from artists Mark Romei and Alison Erlanger, photographer Sam Biddle and composer/curator Allison Wright.

Allison Wright is the founder and creative director of Kammervolk. She enjoys a diverse career as a sought after producer, composer, arranger and accomplished orchestral trumpet player. Allison has had her original compositions and arrangements performed internationally including appearances at the Bang on a Can Summer Festival (USA), and by prominent chamber groups.
