Herding Cats

Herding cats 1Shortlisted for Best New Play at the UK Theatre Awards, Lucinda Coxon’s Heading Cats is a provocatively funny play about two twenty-something flatmates disconnected from life who have developed a deep and poisonous reliance on one another.

Justine is in a permanent state of rage and driven to drink by her boss, a middle-aged ex-hippy who has everything her generation can’t afford. Michael, an agoraphobic earns his living pretending to be a women and offering phone sex to men. Saddo is one of those men at the other end of the phone line. Justine and Michael soon discover that there is such a thing as sharing too much as they both over commit in the quest for intimacy.

Herding Cats exposes the isolation of contemporary urban life and freeze-frames a generation negotiating independence in the 21st Century.

Suzanne Chaundy returns to Red Stitch Actors Theatre to direct this Australian premiere and features Paul Ashcroft as Michael, Ngaire Dawn Fair as Justine and Dion Mills as Saddo.
