Grace

Knock & Run Theatre Grace - photo by Phillip RossA tragicomedy that explores human assumptions about how God, goodness, faith and causality operate, Knock & Run Theatre presents Grace by Craig Wright at the Civic Theatre Newcastle from 28 June 2017.

Steve and Sara have relocated to Sunrise, Florida to pursue an unbelievably wonderful business deal, but as the deal slowly unravels Sara finds herself increasingly drawn to their next-door neighbour, Sam, a badly-scarred victim of a recent car accident, who wants nothing to do with her or her Bible-quoting husband.

In the end, with a little help from an old German exterminator who’s still angry about the effects of World War II, all three characters are confronted by a world that’s both better and worse than any religion can justify.

Directed by John Wood, and featuring James Chapman, Samantha Lambert, Mathew Lee and Paul Sansom, Grace is Knock & Run Theatre second major production following their award winning debut with Suicide Incorporated in 2016.

John Wood is a local writer and director in Newcastle since 2010. In that time he has directed shows for Stooged Theatre, Newcastle Theatre Company, Tantrum Theatre and Two Tall Theatre. Most recently he directed Queen of Mars, his first full length play as playwright, for Theatre on Brunker.

Craig Wright is an American playwright, television producer and writer. In addition to Grace, his plays include: Mistakes Were Made, The Pavilion, Recent Tragic Events, Main Street and numerous others. His television credits include: Six Feet Under and Lost, and creating the television series Dirty Sexy Money. Wright was also the screenwriter for the movie Mr. Peabody & Sherman. A member of the ensemble of the Chicago-based A Red Orchid Theatre, his awards include the Jerome Fellowship, and the 2009 Horton Foote Excellence in American Playwriting Award from Baylor University.
