Gin Sister

Gin Sister photo by Callum StarA surreal journey into the world of women’s drinking culture – from the giddy highs to the sobering truths that come with alcohol use and abuse, Man With A Plan present the Australian Premiere of Gin Sister at Trades Hall Ballroom from 26 November 2015.

Three women wake amidst the wreckage of the previous night and begin the inevitable cycle once more. From the tease of pre-drinks to the 3am stumble (heels in hands) their liberating and self-destructive ‘good night out’ begs the question ‘why do women drink?’

Using a mashup of song, dance, personal tales, and classical text, Gin Sister is an intoxicating journey about women and their relationship with alcohol. From Sia Furler and Amy Winehouse to Marguerite Duras and Chekhov’s Three Sisters, Man With A Plan create the ultimate theatrical response to women’s drinking culture in a world where alcohol is both celebrated and condemned.

Man With a Plan is a Melbourne based theatre collective presenting a female perspective on broad social issues. The company debuted in 2014 with Anthony Weigh’s Like A Fishbone to industry acclaim as part of the MKA HYPRTXT Festival. Gin Sister marks their second collaboration and first original work.
