Jenny Evans - Eleanor, Portrait of a Boxer imageSydneysiders have put their quirky, fun and creative side in the frame for this year’s Sydney Life photographic competition.

A total of 22 stunning images have been selected as finalists in the prestigious competition, which this year broke new records with more than 1,300 images submitted.

Finalists include sunbakers, family pets, a whale washed up on the beach, Spiderman enjoying a beer and an aerobics class in action.

The finalists will compete for the $10,000 Sydney Life prize with the winner announced at the free Art & About Sydney launch party in Martin Place on Friday 20 September.

The distinguished panel of judges for this year’s Sydney Life includes co-founder of Dinosaur Designs, Liane Rossler, founder and curator of the prestigious Head On Portrait Prize and Festival, Moshe Rosenzveig, and ARTHERE founder and Stills Gallery curator, Sandy Edwards.

“Sydney Life’s spectacular shots capture the mood of the city each year,” said Lord Mayor Clover Moore.

“It’s a real showcase of our city and its people, snapped by emerging and established photographers. The quality of entries is among the best we’ve seen – selecting a winner will be no mean feat for the judges.”

Each of the finalist images will be blown up and exhibited along St James Avenue in Hyde Park during Art & About from 20 September to 20 October.
